FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Overview

Responsibilities include:  Trouble shooting and repairing machinery on location either alone or as part of a team. 

This position generally supports customer manufacturing operations by identifying problems, their sources, and by repairing the machinery to return function.  The work requires someone who is organized, planned, and has the ability to understand machine function and how to troubleshoot and debug operation. This position is in constant contact with engineering designers.  This position routinely handles confidential and sensitive information that must remain so.  This position requires a Non-Compete/Non-Disclosure agreement to be signed by the employee.

Duties

  • Travel to customer sites as required
  • Trouble shoot and debug machinery for proper operation
    • Natural gas fuel systems
    • Mechanical systems
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Electrical systems
  • Inspect machinery for proper installation
  • Work as part of a team to rebuild machinery
  • Report to enginering any as-built deviations
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Other responsibilities as needed

Skills required

  • Efficiently manage time
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Ability to properly use measuring tools and instruments
  • Understanding of tolerences and fits
  • Knowledge of materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
  • Ability to perform multiple functions at one time
  • Independently solve problems and manage complex projects

Reports to:  Field Service Manager

  • Employee to provide:  Safety shoes and basic set of hand tools
  • Work schedule
  • 5-7 days per week depending on demands
  • Overtime likely
  • Weekend and weekday travel required
  • Job advertisement

Small manufacturer of custom-designed industrial food processing machinery is seeking additional field mechanics.  The business is dynamic, service oriented, and growing. Products include parts, service, and new and used machinery.  Responsibilities include:  Field assembling machinery according to engineering drawings, trouble shooting machinery for shipment, basic welding, and general in-field service work.  This position requires a mechanical aptitude and knowledge of industrial electricity and hydraulics as well as gas burner systems.  The candidate must be capable of working independently to meet deadlines and quality specifications.  Travel required to repair machines on location at customer sites.  Travel schedule is determined by customer demand.
